Troop 581 spends a LOT of time outside!
So far in 2017, Troop 581 Boy Scouts whitewater rafted the New River Gorge, camped in every corner of Virginia, backpacked through the George Washington National Forest, caught trout in West Virginia (and ate most of them), ate bugs, earned over 300 merit badges, scooped up countless awards at an orienteering competition, jumped in a lake, lived like Mountain Men, attended National Youth Leadership Training, built a campfire that could be seen from space, led no less than ten service projects, rappelled off a tower, sailed around the Virgin Islands, survived wilderness survival training and and generally did all of those things that form boys into healthy young men of great character.
To the left, you see an extremely rare, albeit grainy, photo of what are alledged to be Troop 581 Boy Scouts sitting still. The authenticity of this questionable image cannot be verified. The stillness of Boy Scouts in this image should in no way be construed as indicative of typical activity levels of Troop 581 Scouts. In fact, we have one Boy Scout who plays the bugle in his sleep.
